Vikisews Patterns Review: 8 Projects I Sewed and What I Changed
My honest Vikisews patterns review: eight garments I sewed from their patterns in 2021, for me and for my daughter, what I thought of each one and what I changed. The video also shows how the Vikisews website and its free patterns work.
Why I love Vikisews patterns
Vikisews is my favourite sewing pattern website. Their designs are always on top of trends (you won't find a trench coat like the Vikisews Abigail in the shops), every pattern comes with step-by-step instructions with pictures, and there is a section of free patterns.
What I changed on each Vikisews pattern
- Vikisews Abigail trench coat: new pockets, and less voluminous sleeves.
- Vikisews Ingrid shirt coat: longer, with bigger pockets and pockets in the side seams. I sized it down after dropping the insulated lining.
- Vikisews Carol sweater and Vikisews Joan sweatpants: rib knit for the finishing, and no pockets.
- Vikisews Beatrice bustier top: turned into a dress with a circle skirt. Next time I'd choose a different pattern for a dress.
- Vikisews Tony kids' puffer jacket: no hood, a higher collar, a little longer, and a size up so it lasts another winter.
- Vikisews Aspen kids' trench coat: a centre zip, collar and hood, new pockets, side openings, a lining quilted with 40 g insulation, and seams sealed with silicone tape.
- Vikisews Sam kids' trousers and shorts: no changes; they fit very well.
