Easy DIY Fabric Flowers: Fabric Flower Headband Tutorial
A quick tutorial: how I made 3D fabric flowers from strips of fabric and decorated a simple headband, to finish a look with a dress I made for my daughter.
Why make fabric flowers
Flowers are always in fashion, and fabric flowers use up leftover scraps. The same flowers can decorate a choker or a tank top, and you don't need a pattern: just create the shape you like.
How I made the fabric flowers
- Fold a strip of fabric several times, about 3.5 cm per fold, and cut a curve to make the petals. I made the first four petals smaller.
- If your fabric frays a lot, you can burn the edges.
- Roll and fold the strip into a flower. I started by fixing it with a few stitches, then continued with a hot glue gun. Fold it freely until you like the shape.
- My headband was very slim, so I glued small strips to the flowers and wrapped them around the band. Let the glue dry completely first.
- Make the flowers in the centre of the headband a little bigger.
